How to bulk import cards from CSV or spreadsheet files

Hobby bulk import is the fastest way to move an existing inventory into Wax Cache. The key is preparing columns around identity, storage, value, and media before importing.

Wax Cache home dashboard with Upload Cards quick action for importing card files.
Start imports from Home with Upload Cards, then review mapping before creating records.

Prepare the file

  • Keep one row per card or card group.
  • Include box and location columns when the source already knows physical storage.
  • Use clear headers for year, set, player, character, card number, variant, value, cost, condition, and notes.
  • Keep image URLs in dedicated front and back image columns when available.

Run the import

  1. 1

    Open Upload Cards

    HomeUpload Cards

On Hobby, start from Home or from the Collection upload control.

  2. 2

    Select a fallback box

    Fallback box

Rows without box data go here. Use a Review box if the file is messy.

  3. 3

    Upload the file

    Import CardsBrowse

Choose the CSV, TSV, TXT, or XLSX file and let Wax Cache parse available columns.

  4. 4

    Review accepted columns

    Accepted columns

Confirm that identity, storage, value, and media columns are mapped the way you expect.

  5. 5

    Import and audit

    Import CardsCollection

Open the imported box, search several known cards, and export a backup after large imports.

Avoid common import mistakes

  • Do not import thousands of cards into a vague box if the source file has better storage data.
  • Do not mix sports and TCG-specific fields into one ambiguous column when separate columns would be clearer.
  • Do not assume values, conditions, or images are right until you spot-check samples.
