How to use QR labels for card boxes and inventory

QR labels bridge the shelf and the software. A good label lets you scan a box, open the matching Wax Cache record, and keep physical storage aligned with digital inventory.

Choose what the QR should open

  • Box QR: opens the matching box for signed-in inventory work.
  • Card QR: opens a specific card record or card workflow.
  • Public box QR: opens a read-only public box when sharing is enabled.
  • Workflow QR: routes into a Wax Cache action such as scan or lookup where available.

Keep QR labels accurate

If a box is deleted and recreated, the old label points to the old record. Reprint labels when the underlying destination changes.

FAQ

Should I print QR labels for every card?

Usually start with box QR labels. Print individual card QR labels only when card-level scanning is useful for your storage, selling, show, or display workflow.

Can QR labels open public pages?

Yes, when public sharing is enabled for the relevant profile or box. Public links are read-only and controlled through sharing settings.
